India vs West Indies: India won the first Test match between India and West Indies, within 3 days and took a 1-0 lead.
Hyderabad: India won the first Test match against West Indies, within 3 days and took a 1-0 lead. The second test match will be played in Hyderabad from Friday 12 Oct. However, before that the selection committee is likely to announce the Indian team for the upcoming One Day and Twenty20 series. Rishabh Pant is likely to get an opportunity for the ODI series, but considering the upcoming tour against Australia, captain Virat Kohli will be given a chance to rest.
Former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s form is a matter of concern, but his place in the team will remain intact. As a reserve wicketkeeper, Pant could get a chance and hence Dinesh Karthik will have to sit out of the team. He did well in the Nidahas Trophy Twenty20 cricket tournament. He was then given the opportunity for England and the Asia Cup. However, he has not been able to do the same as impressing the selection committee. On the other hand, Pant has made the opportunity for gold in the Test match.

Virat’s inclusion is an important issue. Virat can be rested in the one-day and Twenty20 series against the West Indies in the face of upcoming Australia tour. In his absence, Rohit Sharma has played the role of captaincy. So, he can be given the responsibility against the West Indies. The ODI series against the West Indies will start on October 21, and the Twenty20 series will start on November 4.
Ambati Rayudu will retain his place even if Kohli decides to play. Kedar Jadhav’s awful hamstring will rule him out of the limited-overs format which opens up one potential middle-order batting slot. There are a few other changes that the selectors might consider.
Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are set to come back after a long break during the ongoing Test series. Ravindra Jadeja is also hopeful to make his comeback as Axar Patel’s replacement. The axe might be fall on Manish Pandey, who has had a poor performance since getting a chance against Afghanistan.
