IPL 2019: IPL 2019 will be played in India

The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) on Tuesday announced the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League in India. Due to the elections, the discussions were going on that the IPL will take place outside India. But, this tournament will be held in India from March 23.

Lok Sabha elections are going to be held in the same period. Therefore, BCCI has decided to change the format of the IPL. Accordingly, each franchise can play only three matches at the home ground. The other matches will be in third place.

The dates of the elections have not been announced yet, and therefore the BCCI did not announce the schedule of the IPL. There is a possibility that this schedule will be announced on 2nd or 3rd February.

The question of security can arise during elections. Hence BCCI will make the selection of the third place. BCCI is going to pick 5-6 places and in such cases, home-away matches will not be held.

A senior BCCI official said, “It is our priority to get security for all matches. The central government had refused to provide security in the previous two elections. Our first goal was to play in the IPL tournament in India. If elections are held, then the BCCI and the state government will not have any problem in organizing the competition.
