India vs New Zealand 2019 2nd ODI Preview
After beating New Zealand in the first ODI, India likely want to take a lead in the second ODI and going forward in the five-match series. It has become very important for the Indian team to win the 2nd ODI because the Team India has already announced that Virat Kohli will not be part of the last two ODIs of the series.
India has given best performances in the recent One Day Internationals. Everyone contributed to the 1st ODI victory. Mohammed Shami proved himself and did not feel the absence of Bumrah. He gave early breakthroughs and the spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep provided the breakthroughs in the middle overs. Shikhar Dhawan also got back in form with a half-century.
While New Zealand team would be disappointed with their performance in the 1st ODI. Their batsman has to show a better performance in upcoming matches. In the first game, only Kane Williamson played better to Indian spinners than others. “Their whole bowling unit contributed well and they need credit for that,” he said after the 1st match presentation. In second ODI they need to find the way and come up with a solid plan to counter the quality Indian attack.
New Zealand might include a second spinner in their playing XI looking at the ground conditions. They could also include Colin de Grandhomme to produce more depth to their batting line-up. New Zealand has a 50-50 record at this ground (Mount Maunganui). Before now, they have played six matches at this venue and has won three out of them.
Kane Williamson said, “We know they’re good and we have played them a number of times. We expected them to be good and they were. It’s more about us and how we put out a better performance”.
