India vs New Zealand 4th ODI Preview
Captain Kohli has been rested in the remaining two ODIs and Twenty20 series against New Zealand. So Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian team in the fourth match on Thursday, January 31. Under the captain-ship of Rohit, three changes are expected in the team in Hamilton.
Due to Kohli’s rest, Young players Shubman Gill are likely to get an opportunity on his vacant place. Therefore Shubman’s claim for the third position is confirmed. Captain Kohli also praised the 19-year-old Shubman Gill.
Former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who missed the third ODI, is ready to play on Thursday. On Wednesday, he practiced thoroughly with the team. So one of Dinesh Karthik, Ambati Rayudu or Kedar Jadhav has to sit on the bench after Dhoni’s comeback.
Tests are underway for the 4th-6th position in preparation for the 2019 World Cup tournament. Kohli has shown favor to Rayudu and Jadhav fulfills the role of all-rounder player. Therefore, Kartik will have to do weight and watch
In the bowling department, Mohammed Shami can be rested. He is playing consistently from a Test series against Australia. So he needs a rest. In his place, bowler Khalil Ahmed can get an opportunity.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Khalil will play the role of main bowlers while Hardik Pandya will help them. Ravindra Jadeja can also get a chance. Therefore, one of Kuldeep Yadav or Yuzvendra Chahal can be out of the team.
New Zealand team would be disappointed with their performance in the last three ODI. Only Ross Taylor faced Indian bowling attack with confidence. “We just weren’t able to capitalise when we were in a semi-dominant position. But credit to India – when they’ve batted, we haven’t been able to get wickets to put them under pressure“, Ross Taylor said.
Colin Munro has felt to make his presence in the series so far but he could get the last opportunity in fourth ODI. Jimmy Neesham and Todd Astle are back in New Zealand team and ready to play the fourth game. They replaced Doug Bracewell and Ish Sodhi.
