Today, BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) declared the Indian squad for the upcoming ODI and T20 Series against Australia.

As of our expeditions, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah made a comeback in the squad. KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant have been recalled to India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming five-match ODI series against Australia. On the other hand, experienced Dinesh Karthik has been dropped from the squad, which will be India’s last ODI matches before the 2019 World Cup.

Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, Khaleel Ahmed, and Mohammed Siraj have also been dropped from the squad who were part of the squad in the recent tour of New Zealand. At the same time, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been rested for the first two matches of the series.

Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma (vc), Virat Kohli (Capt), Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (wk), Kedar Jadhav, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Vijay Shankar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Siddharth Kaul, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and KL Rahul.

Karthik’s exclusion is very shocking because this series is looking for the World Cup preparations. He had given the match finisher’s role in the last two series. He scores 38* (38), 25* (14), 12 (21) and 0(1) in the last two series in Australia and New Zealand with the average of 75 and helped India in two chases.

On the other hand, Rishabh Pant could not be more effective in one-day series, totaling 41 runs in three ODIs.

Khaleel Ahmed proved himself as a big asset. Since making his debut last year, variation as a left-arm pacer has picked up 11 wickets in 9 matches at an economy rate of 5.36. However, he was axed from the third bowler slot of Mohammed Shami’s impressive performance in New Zealand.

With Bumrah returning, Indian pace attack is almost near full strength. Bhuvneshwar will join from the third one-day. Until then, in the first two games, Siddharth Kaul will fill the fast bowling options.

Due to Jadeja’s absence, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal will be the only two spinners in the squad. Apart from Kedar Jadhav, Vijay Shankar and Hardik Pandey will fill the gap with the fifth bowler.

For T20 series, Mystery leg-spinner Mayank Markande gets a maiden call-up after the impressive performances for India A squad against England Lions. He represented Panjab and Mumbai Indians. Bhuvneshwar and Kuldeep Yadav have been rested from the T20I series. While Shubhaman Gill, Mohammad Siraj and Khalil Ahmed were dropped from the squad.

Karthik has retained his place in the T20 format, while KL Rahul and Umesh Yadav have recalled to the side. Rishabh Pant, Vijay Shankar, and Sidharth Kaul got seats in both the squads.
