IPL 2019: Smith, Warner selected for the World Cup Squad, Chances of losing IPL final stage

Australia Cricket team announced for the upcoming World Cup tournament on Monday. Steven Smith and David Warner have been given the chance as expected in the 15-man squad.

Smith, Warner selected for the World Cup squad

Both Smith and Warner are currently representing Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad team in the Indian Premier League. Both of them will have to go to the national duty due to the inclusion of the World Cup team and hence they are likely to withdraw from the final phase of the IPL.

According to Cricket Australia’s press release, 15 players from the World Cup team will be involved in a practice session organized in Brisbane. Earlier, the Australian team will play three unofficial One Day Internationals

The practice session is to be completed on May 2. Warner’s bat is very good in the IPL. He has scored 400 runs at an average of 80 in 7 matches. It includes 1 century and 4 half-centuries. Meanwhile, Smith has not yet got enough air.

In the recent series, Aaron Finch and Usman Khawaja had accepted the responsibility of opening. But with Warner’s inclusion, the curiosity of who will be seen as opening pair in the World Cup has been created.

Shaun Marsh, Smith, Glenn Maxwell and all-rounder Marcus Stonis will be the middle-order batsman. Five fast bowlers, including two spinners, Adam Zmpa, and Nathan Lyon, have been given the opportunity. Pet Cummins and 2015 World Cup-winning team-mate Mitchell Starc are underweight.
